The Public Health Thematic Multi-Organization Institute (ITMO) is organizing its second annual symposium on Thursday December 5, 2013 in Paris (Bibliothèque nationale de France), on the theme of "personalized" medicine.

"Personalized" medicine will form a key area of research in the European Horizon 2020 program over the years to come. The second annual symposium of the Public Health ITMO addresses this theme by bringing together public health stakeholders and researchers to discuss the public health, economic, ethical and social challenges associated with "personalized" medicine and biomedical innovations. The symposium will spark multidisciplinary discussions between medical innovation leaders and researchers in the fields of human, economic and social sciences and epidemiology and public health.

The day will be organized into three sessions, introduced by guest speakers Ruth Chadwick (Cardiff University), Ivo Gut (Centre Nacional d'Anàlisi Genòmica, Barcelona), Véronique Thouvenot (Fondation Millennia 2025, Geneva), Isaac Kohane (Harvard Medical School), Bartha Knoppers (McGill University, Montreal) and Theresa Marteau (King's College, London). The research under way through the French National Alliance for Life and Health Sciences will also be presented at this event, which will end with a round table session chaired by Jean-Paul Moatti (Director of the Public Health ITMO).
